Film Opening Project (blog 8)

Today my group project and I met up to share ideas for our opening. We created a rough draft for our storyboard, talked about tasks each of us are focusing on, and also discussed about things we need to have for the editing stage (such as music and a font selection).

Starting with the storyboard, we are planning on the opening to flow like a mini storyline arc. The tension rises as it gets more and more intense, and then it comes down (where we then plan on displaying the title sequence).

Speaking of a title sequence, we finally came up with a title for our story! We all suggested a few titles, but none of them really stuck out to us. After Oliver had the idea of using a random word generator to find a title for our film opening, we decided that our film is going to be called Valid. It is vague enough where it does not give away the story/subject of our film (thus intriguing audiences), but it still resonates with our story, since it is about our character learning how to feel validated.

Also, we chose music and a font for our film. Since we are planning on our character to be an 'artistic' influencer, we wanted our choices to reflect that style. We chose a song from the album Road to Knowhere by Tommy Guerrero (song starts at 21:43) and as for fonts we narrowed it down to these two below:

Fonts for our film opening, they portray a sense of elegance or artistic quality visible within our character

We are getting the fonts off of Adobe fonts, and as for the music we still need to get permission to use it. However, it is worth mentioning that we are still unsure if these will be our final choices. I like the fonts and music, but I am having second thoughts on them and wondering if the choices we made will fit with the overall visual aesthetic we want in our film.

Because of that, my job this week is to create visuals on our new story and to also find props for our set design. We are still planning to film on Sunday, so while we have a bit of a time crunch, if we work hard during the week I'm sure we will be able to meet our deadline for filming. The last thing we want to be be off schedule as it gives us more pressure later on. I'll keep you guys posted :)
